Dating Advice for When You Want to Stay Off Dating Apps

Swiping left on dating apps altogether? We can help. Read below for some completely niche, unproven, and maybe just down-right incorrect advice.

Living in the digital age, so many things aren’t like they used to be… some for the better and others for the worse. Dating apps are one of the things we think are for the worse. Kickin’ it old school ain’t easy though…

(1.) Number One- Know good people

Having a mutual friend is a great way to get connected with someone new that already gets along with someone you know well. No cat-fishing over here. But be wary of how this could affect the relationship with your friend if things don’t work out. Maybe the ideal situation is going on a date with someone that they know, but you likely won’t have to see again if things go south.

(2.) Number Two- Take a Class or Join a Club

Sign up for a yoga class, or maybe some sort of workshop about something you’re passionate about. Even if you don’t see an eligible suitor…you may meet some other people with shared interests and they’re never bad to have around. In relationships, it’s nice to have shared interest!

(3.) Number Three- Get Social at Work

Okay, this one may be controversial- but there are so many happy couples who met at work. After all, we spend literally all day there (well most of us). While remote working has put a damper on many in-office relationships… you can still message your zoom crush! Just approach it with caution, stay professional, and don’t get yourself reported to HR!

(4.) Number Four- Start Attending Somewhere Regularly

For example, become a regular at a coffee shop you really enjoy. Go once a week, same day, same time. Be affable with staff and others around. This one may take a little finesse (or rizz if you’re gen z) in order to not come across creepy. Or even somewhere like the gym, or a local park would do the trick. The point is to get recognized by new faces and slowly work up to starting a conversation!

(5.) Number Five- Go Out On the Town!

Ah yes, the tried and true method of picking up dudes, chicks, or whomst ever you like. While many of these relationships don’t start out with the most wholesome beginnings, some of them do! Sometimes the best conversations come from people you just met. And if anxiety is an issue with the other methods, after a few, you’ll be alright. It’s always best to bring a friend along with you and let other people know where you’ll be going that night. You can never be too safe, especially when alcohol is involved.

That’s a wrap!

Hope you learned something about how to meet new people! It takes guts to put yourself out there like that, and that’s why many people don’t. In doing so though, you’re more likely to attract the type of person you’d be suited for anyways. Happy mingling!
